Blooming good business advice

It’s not every day you go to a business meeting and find a packet of wildflower seeds on the table in front of you.

With this, I knew the Bumble & Bloom Media marketing workshop was going to be something special.

wildflower seedsMD Chloe Hall appealed for people to get involved via The Inspire Network, a networking group for female entrepreneurs in the north east, and I think I was one of the first to sign up!

A former journalist, like me, she set up her business less than a year ago after spotting gap in the market for straight-forward, resourceful and affordable marketing advice, tailored to small businesses.

With a steady stream of orders recently, and having celebrated my first year in business, I’m certainly at the point where I need to focus on growing my business further.

So the invitation came at an opportune moment.

The majority of people in the room were sole traders, like me, and Chloe certainly succeeded in de-mystifying the concepts of PR and marketing.

I certainly felt better equipped as I headed for the Metro afterwards!

Blogging and search engine optimisation (SEO) are no longer things I’m wrestling with, and I know how to improve my social media management.

My online presence is certainly going to be given a makeover during the summer months!

More importantly, seeing Chloe talk about her brand, how she sets herself apart from the other PR and marketing companies, and does her own thing, gave me a little more confidence in my brand and what it stands for and what’s right for my business.

So I’m going to plant the seeds and watch them grow, along with my business.

This is so lovely to read, and to hear about the day from your perspective. From the silly little wildflowers to actually making sure people left feeling equipped with knowledge is exactly how I wanted it to be. Thank you for sharing, you’ve made my day!! x

You’re very welcome! The fact it was geared towards sole traders was fantastic – sometimes you feel like a fish out of water at more ‘corporate’ events and workshops. I really felt a weight had been lifted as I headed home and I’m hoping to put a few things into practice over the summer.
