Business Highlights of 2016 – Part Two

Here’s the second part of my review of 2016 for Creative Calligraphy, with six more highlights of my working year.

If you missed part one, you can read it here.

modern artsynibs 6 20167 – Meeting up with Joyce Lee from Artsynibs.

Joyce and I got chatting on Twitter during International Correspondence Writing Month in March 2016 and we’ve been ‘calligrafriends’ ever since. I love her work and she has inspired me to take up modern calligraphy. Getting to meet her in person was great and I will get to one of her workshops in 2017! Read my blog about our trip to York here.

insta-pic8 – Joining Instagram.

An obvious social media platform for a calligrapher, with it being so visual, but while I was familiar with Facebook and Twitter before starting my business, I hadn’t used Instagram. I joined in May 2016 and I have discovered a fantastic community of calligraphers (complete with a calligrafriends hashtag) and a wealth of support, knowledge and inspiration. I even surpassed my target of gaining 100 followers by the end of the year. Read about my involvement in the Holiday Swap for Pencils of Promise via Instagram on my blog here.

pen shop 1 20169 – Writing for The Pen Shop

I have been writing guest blogs for The Pen Shop and it has been great to test out their calligraphy products and share my knowledge. I hope it has encouraged some people to take up the hobby. Read my blog about it here.

beach 8 201610 – Taking part in a styled summer wedding shoot

This was a fantastic project to be part of with other members of The Inspire Network who work in the wedding industry. Read my blog about it here.

feedspot blog 1 201611 – Featuring in the Feedspot Top 50 calligraphy blogs

I blog every week and it scratches my writing itch. Turns out someone likes it as much as I do! Read my blog about it here.

sparkle sofa birthday

12 – Adding some sparkle to my social media.

Nicola (sitting next to me on the right of the picture) and Jen from Sparkle Communications are fantastic. I took advantage of a Grab An Hour session with them early in the year and felt so much better about my business and social media afterwards. I’m sure I’ll be calling on them more in 2017! I’ve even pointed the hubby in their direction and if they can convince him of the importance of social media for business, they can convince anyone.

What a great way to reflect on your successes over the year. I made a note to to this myself but then the lurgy arrived and I’m still just lolling around on the sofa with a big box of tissues and lemsip.
Hope this year is even more successful for you..I’m sure it will!
