Calligraphy workshops in the North East
If you would like to give the art of beautiful writing a go yourself, Creative Calligraphy founder Angela Reed teaches calligraphy throughout the north east of England.
Regular venues include Re-Create Today in Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, From Loft to Loved in Sedgefield, County Durham, Elvet & Bailey in Durham City and Newcastle Arts Centre in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
Weekly classes are also held on Thursday and Friday mornings at Mortimer Community Centre in South Shields. If you would like to add your name to the waiting list for a place, please get in touch.
Angela is also happy to offer private workshops for individuals and groups, as well as community organisations and schools.

Introduction to Foundational Hand

£35Foundational Hand is a traditional style of calligraphy, written with a broad-edged pen, which has been used since the early 20th century. Join calligrapher Angela Reed as she guides you through the process of using a broad-edged pen to form the Foundational Hand alphabet.
This workshop will introduce you to Foundational Hand, from getting started with a calligraphy pen to drawing up guidelines for practice and forming letters, building up words and sentences.
Materials and refreshments will be provided.
