Calligraphy workshops in the North East
If you would like to give the art of beautiful writing a go yourself, Creative Calligraphy founder Angela Reed teaches calligraphy throughout the north east of England.
Regular venues include Re-Create Today in Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, From Loft to Loved in Sedgefield, County Durham, and Newcastle Arts Centre in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.
Weekly classes are also held at Mortimer Community Centre in South Shields. If you would like to add your name to the waiting list for a place, please get in touch.
Angela is also happy to offer private workshops for individuals and groups, as well as community organisations and schools.

Lindisfarne Gospels Inspired Calligraphy (FULL)

£35This event is part of the Gateshead ALive summer programme, celebrating The Great Exhibition of the North.
Taking inspiration from The Lindisfarne Gospels and other beautiful medieval manuscripts created in the North East, join Angela Reed from Creative Calligraphy at The Angel View Inn in Low Eighton, Gateshead, and create your own piece of illuminated lettering.
Angela will guide you to form an uncial alphabet using a dip pen and ink to write a quote. The second part of this masterclass will involve ‘illuminating’ your piece with decorated letter and border.
All materials will be provided.
You are welcome to bring your own lunch but The Angel View Inn has a fantastic restaurant serving lunch too which we recommend highly!
