Katie’s Garden deserves to grow

WITH evening dresses hanging outside the bathroom and a shimmering penny pathway, Katie’s Garden has got glamour in spades.

The vintage crafting tearoom has just opened in the Sunniside area of Sunderland and is run by mother-and-daughter team Kathryn and Rachel Meadows.

As well as the tearoom, the couple run a range of workshops and help brides create the right look for their vintage-themed weddings, from the all-important dress to table decorations.

I was delighted to be part of their first hand-made wedding workshop.

The garden really blossomed as it transformed into a vintage-loving bride-to-be’s dream, with lots of crafts to try, including my hand-made Save the Date cards.

Hand-made and upcycling continues to set the trend for weddings, so I’m sure there will be more of these workshops to come.

In the meantime, there are plenty of off-the-shelf craft kits to explore – and the tea is excellent!

Rachel said: “Together my mum and I wanted to create a space where people from all backgrounds, abilities and walks of life could be taught, learn and most importantly have fun creating and buying beautiful modern vintage things.”
