Newcastle Does Vintage at Hoult’s Yard

Love vintage? Then don’t miss The Clayshed’s Big Vintage Festival at Hoult’s Yard in Newcastle later this month.

I’ll be running calligraphy workshops as part of the event – if I can tear myself away from the fantastic looking programme of stalls and entertainment!

britain does vintage 1Organised by Britain Does Vintage, the fair is taking over the historic former industrial building on Saturday, April 23, from 10.30am to 4.30pm.

For those who wish to join in, my calligraphy workshops will take place at 12.30pm and 3.30pm, leaving me with plenty of time to soak up the atmosphere.

Keen to enter into the spirit of things, I’ve already purchased a vintage skirt (and not so vintage top to match) from the fabulous Age UK shop in Sunderland, which has a whole floor dedicated to such donations.

I’m hoping to have my hair done on the day by Hepkat Kitten Vintage Hairstyling, who I met at a recent wedding fair, but if not, I also bought a pretty pink peacock headscarf in the charity shop.

Britain Does Vintage has been running fairs in Newcastle for almost four years and this event is its biggest yet. I was asked to take part by owner Alexandra Atkinson, who approached me via the Inspire Network Facebook group.

She said: “We are delighted to be putting on a bigger event in Newcastle after our successful Newcastle Does Vintage fairs. We thought it was about time to spice things up a little!

“We’re so excited about building this event over the next four years and beyond, into something really, really fabulous and big.”

To find out more, visit the events page of the website here, like the Facebook page here, or follow @BritainDoesVintage on Twitter, using the hashtag #TCBVF16.

Early bird tickets, priced £3.50, are available until Monday, April 18.
